Honestly? I bought the steak thinking I was going to make a steak sandwich. But halfway through heating up the pan I had one of those “wait a minute” moments, and I thought, why not throw some onion on there too? And just like that, the plan changed. Funny how that goes.
I’ll be real with you, I don’t eat beef as much as I used to. These days it’s more of an every other week kind of thing. But that’s actually made it better, you know? When you don’t have it all the time, the days you do make it feel like a little occasion. It hits different when it’s not just Tuesday steak again.
This one is dead simple, a couple of nice round steaks, a big onion, some spaghetti tossed in butter, and you’re done. It’s the kind of meal that looks just as good as it tastes, with very little effort! Gotta love it. Lets check the recipe!
Pan-Grilled Round Steak with Caramelized Onions

Heheheh I'm not going to pretend this is some chef-level production. It's a steak, a grilled onion, and pasta. But sometimes that's exactly what you need, and this will absolutely deliver.
Ingredients
- Beef – 2 Round Steaks
- Onion – 1 Large
- Spaghetti – 200g
- Butter – A Knot
- Olive Oil – A Drizzle
- Pepper – A Pinch
- Salt – A Pinch
Directions
- This recipe is pretty simple, season the steaks with salt and pepper and set aside.
- Heat a grill pan or griddle.
- While the pan heats over medium-high heat, add hot water to a large pot with a pinch of salt, add the spaghetti and cook until tender, then drain and season with a knob of butter.
- When the pan is hot, add the steaks and grill them to your liking (for this kind of lean steaks you want medium).
- Remove the steaks, lower the heat slightly, and add onion slices brushed with olive oil and a pinch of salt. Let them caramelize well on both sides.
- And that’s it! When the onion is well caramelized, combine everything on two plates and it’s ready to serve. Enjoy!

For the steaks, pat them dry with a paper towel before seasoning. It helps them get a better sear instead of steaming in the pan.
Don’t rush the onion. Low and slow after the steaks come out is the move. Give it a good 8 to 10 minutes and it’ll go sweet and jammy in a way that makes the whole dish.
Let the steaks rest for a couple of minutes after grilling. It keeps the juices inside instead of running all over your plate.
Also note that these are round steaks, so they are on the lean side
