Mini Pizza Pasties

This little pasties came from me doing a big pile of pizzas and having some leftover pizza toppings, so i thought, hummm these might be good as a pastie or pastry filling, kinda a mini individual calzone.

There are different brands and types of puff pastry, but basically you have the plain type and the rich type, the rich type has butter, the plain type has some other fat, I used the plain type because it also tend to not puff up as much, lets check the recipe.

Delicious simple pasties recipe with a traditional pizza filling.

Ingredients

  • Puff Pastry – 1 Round Roll (+/- 200gr)
  • Chorizo – 8 Slices (Or Pepperoni)
  • Sausage – 4
  • Mozzarella Cheese – 1 Ball
  • Tomato – 1 Can (Peeled)
  • Garlic – 1 Clove
  • Basil – 8 Leaves
  • Egg – 1
  • Parmesan Cheese – To Taste (Grated)
  • Olive Oil – A Pinch
  • Oregano – A Pinch
  • Pepper – A Pinch
  • Salt – A Pinch

Directions

  1. Start by taking the puff pastry out of the refrigerator and preheat the oven to 200°C.
  2. Unroll the dough and cut 8 triangles, on the shortest side of the triangle put a half of a sausage cut lengthwise, followed by a strip of mozzarella, a slice of chorizo, a teaspoon of crushed tomato, some chopped garlic, a basil leaf and a touch of olive oil.
  3. Repeat until each triangle is stuffed, season them all with a pinch of pepper, oregano, and salt, then carefully roll them up starting from smaller side rolling to the point, to create a small croissant shape.
  4. Finally place each one on a baking tray, brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with a generous amount of grated Parmesan cheese, bake in the oven for 28 minutes or until golden brown, enjoy!
Notes: Like most pasties you can change the filling according to your taste or leftover you have, just try and not overfill and don’t put too many ingredients.
