Summer is absolutely peak fruit season, and if you haven’t jumped on the fruit salad train yet, what are you even doing? Seriously though, fruit salads are one of those things that are not really a recipe, but its kinda always a good idea! ;D You wanna get that crunchy, sweet with a hint of tang in that bowl.

This particular salad is the classic “oh I have to clean out the fridge before grocery day” salad! Haven’t heard of it? 😀 Yep I had a handful of strawberries, a couple of apples, and some oranges that were getting a little too ripe for comfort and instead of letting them go to waste, I just piled everything together and called it dinner. Honestly? Zero regrets. A big sweet, fresh, fruit salad for dinner in the summer is refreshing!😄

And if you’ve got kids around, skip the ice cream and cookies, trust me a fruit salad is always a winner, just try and pick the best and sweetest fruits, you might be surprised by how much they will love it! Just saying. Let’s check the recipe!

Nothing like a simple, fresh fruit salad with strawberries, apples, and oranges. Classic, easy, and absolutely no excuses needed to make at home.

Ingredients

  • Oranges – 4
  • Apple – 1 (Alcobaça Apple)
  • Green Apple – 1
  • Strawberries – 6

Directions

  1. Separated one orange and cut the segments in half, make juice from the other oranges to add some to the salad.
  2. Cut the apples into wedges and the strawberries into quarters.
  3. Combined everything in a large bowl, mixed it all together, and that’s it, ready to serve. Enjoy!
Notes & Tips: If you’re making the fruit salad ahead of time, pour the fresh orange juice over everything before storing it in the fridge. The acidity helps keep the fruit from oxidizing and turning brown, so it stays looking fresh and appetizing.

Green apples bring a nice tartness that balances the sweetness of the strawberries and oranges really well, so try not to skip them if you can help it or use another fruit with some tartness like pineapple.

Feel free to add any other fruit you have lying around, bananas, grapes, kiwi, mango, this recipe is really just a base and an excuse to use up whatever’s in your kitchen.

And honestly, this just goes to show how ridiculously easy it is to make a fruit salad. No cooking, no fancy equipment, no complicated steps. Just chop, mix, and eat. If you can hold a knife, you can make this, the only trick is taste the fruit before adding!
