When passion fruit meets sweetened condensed milk, magic happens in your freezer! This homemade passion fruit ice cream is proof that you don’t need fancy equipment to create restaurant-quality cool desserts at home.

We’re in the heart of summer, so why not share something sweet and refreshing? This gorgeous passion fruit ice cream requires no ice cream machine, just three simple ingredients and a freezer. The beauty of these condensed milk-based ice creams is that they’re incredibly easy to make, and the final result is creamy, smooth, and easy to serve. This is a fantastic way to make ice cream at home without the need for an ice cream machine, it’s delicious, simple, and makes the perfect summer dessert.

I absolutely love the flavor and texture of this ice cream, though I understand some people might not enjoy the seeds. My tip is that you can strain the passion fruit pulp through a fine mesh strainer to remove all the seeds, it’s all a matter of personal preference. I think for adults, it’s more interesting to leave the seeds in, but for kids, it might be cause for complaints! Heheheh let’s get to the recipe!

Ingredients

  • Cream – 400ml
  • Condensed Milk – 1 can (397g)
  • Passion Fruit Pulp – 1 can (500g)

Directions

  1. Whip the cream until stiff.
  2. Add the condensed milk and mix well without whisking, followed by the passion fruit pulp, stirring again.
  3. Pour into a plastic container and place in the freezer for at least 24 hours to set completely.
  4. And that’s it, ready to serve, bon appétit!
Notes: This ice cream recipe is quite sweet. You can adjust the sweetness by substituting part of the heavy cream with Greek yogurt to add a tangy twist and cut down on the sweetness.

For a more varied flavor experience, consider reserving about ⅓ of the cream mixture before adding the passion fruit pulp. This way, you can create swirls of plain cream alongside the passion fruit portions for different flavors and textures in each bite.

Feel free to add mix-ins like chocolate chips, crushed cookies, cake pieces, or nuts, either mixed in or sprinkled on top. Avoid fresh fruit pieces as they contain too much water and tend to crystallize.

You can also add toppings after serving: whipped cream, jams, preserves, or fresh fruit work wonderfully.

If you prefer a completely smooth texture, strain the passion fruit pulp through a fine mesh strainer to remove all seeds before mixing.

If it comes out a bit too hard, just wait a bit for it to soften a bit, before taking some scoops.
