These sweet crumble apple tartlets are a great way to indulge in the flavors of autumn. They are easy to make, with a few simple ingredients, and are a great dessert to bring to any holiday gathering.

  • Puff Pastry – 1 Roll (+/- 200gr)
  • Apples – 5
  • Lime – 1 (Juice)
  • Butter – 2 tbsp
  • Brown Sugar – 1 tbsp
  • Balsamic Vinegar – 1 tsp (Or More Lime Juice)
  • Cinnamon – 1 tsp
  • Pumpkin Spice – 1/2 tsp
  • Butter – 100gr
  • Flour – 80gr
  • Sugar – 80gr

  1. Start by peeling and dicing the apples into small cubes, adding the juice of a whole lime so the apple doesn’t oxidize.
  2. Place the diced apples in a pan with two tablespoons of butter, one tablespoon of brown sugar, one teaspoon of cinnamon, and half a teaspoon of pumpkin spice, and cook until the apples are tender.
  3. When the apples are very tender and starting to caramelize, add a little balsamic vinegar, mix and remove from the heat.
  4. For the crumble, mix in a bowl 100gr of butter, 80gr of flour and 80gr of sugar, mix everything with your fingers until you create a sand texture.
  5. Preheat oven to 200ºC/390ºF/gas 6 (or what the puff pastry package recommends) and line 12 muffin tins with non-stick paper or if you don’t have with some butter or oil.
  6. Roll out the puff pastry and cut out circles of dough with a baking pan or cup and add a disk of dough to the bottom of each muffin pan.
  7. Then fill each muffin tin with the caramelized apples.
  8. Followed by a bit of the crumble on top of each one.
  9. Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes until the bottoms are toasted and the tops are golden brown, enjoy!
Notes: You can change the pumpkin spice by adding other spices, like a bit more cinnamon, nutmeg, clove or other blends like chinese five spice. Also you can turn this into just one big pie.
