End of October… so you know what time it is, it’s pumpkin spice season!!!!!!!!! hehehe, well then let’s start with the basic Pumpkin Spice Coffee Latte, you can make this with or without pumpkin purée, I kinda like it with because it’s more authentic and creamy, and I love real pumpkin flavor, but well you are using a small amount, if you don’t have any usage for the rest of the Pumpkin Purée, then no point using it, right!

But what really makes a Pumpkin Spice Coffee Latte, it’s the pumpkin spice, this is not really a spice, it’s a mixture of spices that kinda, sorta, mimic the creaminess and savoriness of pumpkin, you can buy it already made, or you can make your own, it’s a blend of 4 parts ground cinnamon, 1 part ground nutmeg, 1 part ground dry ginger, 1 part ground cloves and 1 part ground all spice, you can adjust and add more spices like ground black pepper, but its basically cinnamon based with some spices to give it more warmth and spiciness, and you can basically use in any sweet or dish that you would use cinnamon, oh and like cinnamon a little can go a long way, I normally make a batch (like 200gr of it) in October and usually that will last me until the next year, when I make a new one! ;D

So let’s check the recipe!!!! And happy Thanksgiving and Halloween and Black Friday, and all the things hehehe

Delicious combination of coffee with milk, with the added spiciness of pumpkin and pumpkin spice.

Ingredients

  • Milk – 420ml (Full Fat, because fat here is a good thing)
  • Brown Sugar – 1 Tbsp (Or more if you have a sweet tooth)
  • Pumpkin Purée – 2 Tbsp (Or more if you crave pumpkin)
  • Vanilla – 1 Tbsp (Extract)
  • Coffee – 2 Cups (I don’t even need to comment, it’s to taste, in this case 2 light roast coffees for 2 people)
  • Pumpkin Spice – 1 Tbsp (Half mixed, half sprinkled on top of the whipped cream, more to taste)
  • Whipped Cream – To Taste (Totally optional if I were a monster, whip 50ml of cold cream with a spoonful of sugar until very creamy and pour a spoonful over the top)

Directions

  1. Pour the milk, pumpkin purée and sugar into a small saucepan and bring to a medium heat, keep an eye on it, you want it super hot but don’t let it boil.
  2. When hot, remove from heat and add 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin spice, hot coffee and vanilla, stir well.
  3. Pour into two mugs or glasses and top with whipped cream followed by a pinch of pumpkin spice, and that’s it, enjoy!
Notes: You should take this recipe more as an inspiration than a hard recipe to follow, since like most beverages it depends a bit on your particular taste, a bit like chai tea, it depends a lot on the blend of spices and what you are feeling on that day, something I make it less milky, sometimes I add double the spices, do you! ;D

I also personally never add whipped cream, I think it makes it a bit too much Starbucks and cuts the spiciness, but for the recipe and… well photos I did it! hehehe
